Nowadays almost every organisation has got a PUBLIC RELATIONS department so why can`t we have it in the music industry? Is it necessary for a record label to have a Public Relations Practitioner? that`s your question, now here is the answer for your question. Absolutely yes, I guess you are expecting a reason for my answer now because what`s on your mind by now is this say ``everything happens for a reason''. But then before we go any further let me first start with the definition of PUBLIC RELATIONS. Public Relations is a practice of managing the flow of information between an individual or an organisation and the public. So now from the definition I have given you I think you get the point of why do we need Public Relations Practitioners in our record labels because it`s there, but now let me go further so that I will leave you with no question mark on your head.
Thus the main purpose of Public Relations in this case is to create, build and sustain favourable reputation or public image of an artist and to enhance the growth of his or her career. The image promoted actually projects an artist`s personality. A public relations practitioner draws attention to the artist.

The following are some of the activities that a Public Relations Practitioner does:
- WRITING SERVICES
Press kits
press releases
Websites
- ORGANISING CD RELEASE PARTIES
Booking vanues
Sending out media invites
Securing press placements
- MEDIA OUTREACH
Radio
Online and print publication
- DESIGN SERVICES
CD inserts
Websites
Blogs and Logos
So now it is clear that we really need Public Relations Practitioners in music and we can see how these two fields relate. Artists need to be with Public Relations Practitioners wherever thyey go because these people are the only publicists in organisations.
Yes it is necessary for a recording company to have a PRP so that when things goes wrong he/she able to control the image of the company look how happens on TS record about ZAhara saga, PRP do alot for company as you mention the activities
ReplyDeleteYes there has been some rumors that Zahara is broke because TS records does not give her her money but then TS`S PRP is trying to protect them
Deleteeach and every organization need to have a public relations practitioner although some organizations still get confusion between the role of marketing and of PR,record lebel that has PR department usually successed than the one that is doesnt
ReplyDeleteYes that`s how it is man, look at what Trot just now about TS
Deleteyes, thats not even debatable, most companies like sonny records have good PrPs thats why they've survived and they still sell lots of records. public relations is key and crucial to every organisation irrespective of the products or services rendered
ReplyDeleteYes that`s what they are there for, they are there for an organisation`s survival especially when it comes to record labels because they are the people who are always thirsty for publicity
Deleteyes it is very important for music to have PR as they are the to protect the image of the music industry and their artists they are responsible for getting the artists out there to the public for people to know them
ReplyDeleteWhat would organisations be without PRPs man, they are the people who always want to know what`s going on in the world around them and every little bit of information he gets,he takes it to the company
DeletePr is important in the music industries because it deals with creating A good image and building relationships with stakeholders,so it is very useful to have pr in the music industries in order to help to create positive image.
ReplyDeletesee now you are defining PR because that`s what PR is about, thanks Marvee
DeleteYeah::Public Relations Practitioners are the only way of building a good image of the companies together with their staff.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn`t matter wheather it`s the mining company or a music company,it fits everywhere.
DeleteI think that PRP's are crucial in any industry that relies on "image" or "brands". This means that public relations practitioners are a valuable asset in the music industry as well.
ReplyDeleteYes Quincy especally when it comes to music industry because there they deal with people who always seek fame so how would they get that fame and good image without PRPs
